Twitter course status and news updates
There can't be many clubs out there that haven't heard of twitter - it has become a phenomenon over the last few years. With over 300m subscribers, it has been decribed as the "SMS of the internet".
Many golf clubs are already on twitter of course, and use it as another medium to reach out to members, visitors and the golfing public at large.
On the first day of Christmas, intelligentgolf now unveils two new tools that can allow clubs to more easily take advantage of this service.
Twitter Embedding
The first is the ability to display any tweets you have sent as a feed directly within the pages of your intelligentgolf website. There are a number of options around this, but a great example of this already up and running can be seen on the pages for Matthew Gillingham (PGA Professional of the Year), who is at Wilmslow Golf Club.
Automatic Tweets
A great feature that we know many of our customers use every day is the course status update. This allows with a simple update in one place, the ability to broadcast the up to the minute status of your golf course to all members by email, and also to publish it on the website, keeping your visitors informed.
We can now unveil that once the twitter integration is enabled on your club, you can also post the status to twitter automatically whenever it is changed. No knowledge of twitter is required, just the ability to change the status as per normal, and the tweet is sent automatically to keep your twitter followers informed.
Furthermore, whenever you post a news article, and make it "public", i.e. so that is can be viewed on your website without logging in, the system will also tweet a link to this news behind the scenes as well.
How to Enable
Only Webmaster level users can enable twitter on intelligentgolf, but once enabled, any user who can post course updates or news articles will gain the benefit. To enable, simply go to admin - settings and click on the twitter link. You will then enter the credentials for your twitter account which will then register intelligentgolf as a twitter app. You can revoke this access at any point, or unlink the account. You can also choose whether to enable course status and or news articles.
For feedback on this, why not tweet to us @intelligentgolf
